Last week, I briefly talked about what I thought of open-world and level-based games. Today, I’m going to share my opinion on arcade games.
Arcade games are weird to me now. I used to kind of like beating a high score, but now, if that’s all there is to a game I won’t play it. Sitting around and playing an “endless” game of Pac-Man or Jetpack Joyride doesn’t have the same kind of thrill it once did. I’ve got to feel a bit of satisfaction and progression during a game to enjoy it, and an arcade game doesn’t do that for me. I mean, it’s not like I can “finish” an arcade game. It just gets more and more difficult until I die. Sure, it’s got a sense of difficulty that people (including myself) enjoy, and they tend to be very action-packed. And you could consider being able to survive for longer to be progression. It’s just not my cup of tea, that’s all.
What do you think of arcade games? Do you prefer them to other types of games? Comment below!
I’m on a brief hiatus, so you won’t be seeing a whole lot from me this week. Just a bunch of short scheduled posts. However, the rest of the guys are hard at work delivering new content to you, and I’ll be back soon with a whole slew of new reviews and other material. Stay tuned! -Josh
